Engine, Performance & Real-World MPG
Kia provides two alternative four-cylinder engines in the Seltos: a 2.0-liter with 146 horsepower and a turbocharged 1.6-liter with 195 horsepower. We tested the Seltos with the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine and found its power to be more than adequate. The turbocharged Seltos hit 60 mph at our test track in 6.9 seconds.
All trim levels except the S and EX come standard with all-wheel drive. The Seltos has a firm but mostly smooth ride, and it handles quickly for an SUV—much more engaging and composed than rivals like the Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. When we can test the revised Seltos at our base, we’ll update this report with acceleration test results and more driving impressions.
How’s the Real World MPG? We expect the Seltos to achieve quite efficient MPG figures. Front-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine are expected to achieve speeds of up to 34 mpg on the highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, the all-wheel-drive Seltos with the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine returned 32 mpg.

Inside, the 2025 Kia Seltos feels practical, open, and thoughtfully arranged. For a subcompact SUV, it offers plenty of space for most passengers, as long as you’re not exceptionally tall. The boxy shape also makes getting in and out a breeze. The front seats could use a bit more thigh support on longer trips, but the rear seats are surprisingly comfortable for a vehicle of this size.
You will notice some road noise creeping into the cabin, and the air-conditioning system isn’t the strongest when trying to cool things down on a really hot day. Still, for everyday driving and short commutes, the Seltos provides a generally pleasant and accommodating ride.
